Logistics

NSI has the significant advantage of being served directly by Primary Arterial Highway 2, meaning there are no seasonal road restrictions to observe allowing for full weights to be trucked in and out of Nadeau Seeds throughout the year.

Ingress and egress at NSI’s site are aided by a well-designed and spacious allowance for Super B truck traffic. Commercial truckers have plenty of room to maneuver into our receiving area, without ever having to deal with the hassles of disconnecting trailers.

NSI can accommodate numerous Super-Bs to queue nearby or wait onsite, including overnight, accomodating early-morning processing and loading times. This helps maximize NSI’s capacity and it also allows drivers to make the most of their time by getting them back on the road as quickly and early as possible.

NSI has an extremely efficient and high-volume receiving pit with the capacity to bring in 160 tonnes or four Super-Bs per hour. While current operations use a manual grain probe, NSI’s receiving area has been designed to allow for the addition of an automated grain probe.

On the loading side of operations, NSI has the equipment to load bulk, container and mini-bulk cargo. Bulk shipments can be loaded at a highly-efficient rate of 42 tonnes or one Super-B per 10 minutes. Containers are loaded in 45 minutes, on average, including being swept/checked, cribbed/bulkhead installed, loaded, sealed, inspected and paperwork completed.

Drayage for containers to/from NSI from/to various Winnipeg logistics sites is competitively priced given the quick, straight haul. NSI can load 10 to 12 containers in an eight-hour shift, including time for clean-up and paperwork. For mini-bulk shipments, NSI can load one tonne per three minutes translating into roughly 20 totes per hour.

Logistically, Nadeau Seeds Inc. is highly efficient, agile and designed to evolve and maintain its market edge.

Why Choose Nadeau | Seed Processing

Nadeau Seeds Inc. has several significant competitive advantages for potential customers interested in its seed-processing capabilities. Running one 10-hour shift, Nadeau has an average seed processing capacity of 100 to 125 tonnes per day.

Beyond these two critical elements, NSI has FIVE big advantages that need to be considered by seed companies:

  • 1. High Volume and Incredibly Flexible Storage
NSI has approximately 11,000 MT of total storage capacity across more than 60 bins of various sizes and formats. This allows seed companies to process both high volume and niche products, with plenty of storage capacity to manage through multiple varieties for a wide range of commodities, all at the same time. NSI can accommodate even the most complex operational requirements to prepare your seed for sale.
  • 2. Significant Blending Capabilities
NSI recognizes that the ability to blend grain to precisely hit customer targets is a key economic driver for grain companies. Don’t leave money on the table by selling lots way over customer quality specs, or worse, by not meeting them. NSI has eight 165-tonne bins designed for blending in mind. With NSI, your company can meet quality targets confidently and ensure customers are getting exactly what they are paying for.
  • 3. Plant Automation and Versatility
Automation is the cornerstone of our ability to efficiently process grain, with total operational control of the site at one person’s fingertips. Eight strategic camera locations enable operators to confidently manage each lot alongside shaft and gravity table monitoring, as well as monitor – from a central location – additional upgrades NSI has installed in its facility, including plug sensors, speed sensors, bin-level indicators, and more. NSI is fully operational with only two people on site. Its dust control and suppression systems are top-of-the-line, making it safe and comfortable for staff and third parties on site during operations. NSI recognizes that some grain needs to be handled carefully, so its spouting and cushion boxes have all been designed with gentle handling in mind to avoid splitting or cracking. Recent facility upgrades mean you can confidently fill food-grade soybean, edible bean and lentil orders alongside container orders for canola, wheat, oats, rye, flax, barley, peas, sunflower and other products capable of being processed at NSI.
  • 4. Efficient Change Over
Many grain processors need to seamlessly shift processing between commodities to meet the various and complex demands of multiple customers. NSI’s equipment and protocols significantly reduces the amount of time needed to shift production between different grains and oilseeds, meaning less downtime and greater profitability overall.
  • 5. Flexible Storage
With two flat 50,000 bushel (1,360 tonne) bins, our clean and bulk load-out is ready to go. NSI has numerous lines of smaller format bins, giving our customers a major advantage in storage with never having to worry about processing capacity overwhelming bin space.
